Rag Maggots are optional enemies that can be encountered in Garbage Island. They can be seen crawling and sometimes hiding in the grasses of The Long Wet. Rag Maggots use to be followers of Larry Davis, but they took his teachings too far and becoming insane as a result.Rister Syrup, a Garbage Island resident, advises against fighting Rag Maggots, and says Alex appears as though he is "stupid enough to fight Rag Maggots". They can be avoided by carefully traversing the area or escaping from them.

Strategy

Rag Maggots are optional opponents that always strike first, but they do afford EXP and Mystery Jerky that can give you an edge in future battles. The takedown for Rag Maggots is constant with each of them despite the variations in their HP.

It's always best to open with a Goat Headbutt, Single Out, and Scoop. Rag Maggots have a good chance of being stunned, the odds are improved slightly when they are Wary but it doesn't last long (Stun and Wary). Use the opportunity afforded by a Stun to set up the Taunt/Dodge combo, once you have done so keep hitting the Maggots with either Goat Headbutt or Flying Axe Kick. If Joel runs low on SP, use Georgy's Brag to take the heat off of him.

Repeat this cycle and the maggots will be no more.
